Employee Giving Campaign Funds WFISD IDEA Grants

IDEA Grants represent a key part of the WFISD Foundation’s strategy to help teachers and students – and employees play an important role by participating in the annual Employee Giving Campaign

Every year, the WFISD Foundation sponsors an Employee Giving Campaign to fund WFISD IDEA Grants. Teachers are invited to apply for IDEA (Innovative, Developmental and Educational Activities) Grants to pay for creative projects in their classrooms. IDEA Grant funding opens the door to special opportunities for children that cannot be funded by ordinary budgeted monies. The WFISD Foundation tradition is to deliver the monetary awards to teachers in surprise visits with balloon bouquets.

IDEA Grants began in 1991 when WFISD began providing the financial support through the grants for teachers to try new things in their classrooms. The amount awarded through the grants varied with the program support each year. Often, an IDEA grant introduced a special opportunity to an entire grade level or the entire school, exposing even more students to innovative teaching strategies and special events. In 2022, the WFISD Foundation delivered 19 IDEA Grants to 26 different teachers totaling more than $18,000.

IDEA Grants are a key part of the WFISD Foundation’s strategy to help teachers and students, and WFISD employees determine with their giving how many IDEA Grants will be made available to teachers each year. Employees who participate with one-time or monthly gifts to the WFISD Foundation will receive a special perk. They will be entered in the special drawings listed below:

  • All employees who donate $100 or more one time OR donate $12 a month will be entered into a drawing for an Apple watch. Please donate by September 1st to eligible for the drawing.
